Overview
The Cybersecurity Championship Cup – Collegiate was created to help encourage participation in cybersecurity competitions wherever they may exist. It is designed to reward participation in multiple competitions thus encouraging students to obtain as much experience as they can. We believe this will help to raise awareness of the competitions and in cybersecurity in general. Another reason to create the championship cup is to also foster cooperation between competition organizers. The goal is to also provide opportunities for faculty members and sponsors of the various competitions to come together to discuss ways to improve individual competitions and to coordinate between them.
The proposed algorithm and rules governing the selection of the championship cup winner are posted her for downloading. There is also a document with some example scenarios of how this might actually play out for a given competition year. A competition year is defined as extending from 1 June of one year to 31 May of the following year. Any competition held during that time period may be used by a school to obtain points towards their championship total.
The 2014-2015 Cybersecurity Championship Cup will be awarded to a representative of the winning school at the HICSS conference in Hawaii Jan 6-8, 2016.
